Bristol Warsaw

The Bristol Luxury Collection hotel boasts sweeping turn-of-the-century grandeur on Warsaw's very own answer to the Champs Elysees, the gloriously unpronounceable Krakowskie Przedmiescie. This historic hotel has consistently been the place of choice with visiting VIPs, and the style of the hotel exudes classic European taste. It's an edifice that's steeped in history, where great patriots, musicians and artists have all gathered. Yet a marvellous bonus is that you can walk straight out into the buzzing world of Warsaw today. Travellers with a soft spot for both shopping and culture are perfectly placed here. Meanwhile you can pamper yourself until your heart's content in the beauty and recreation salons downstairs. A classic hotel.

We had asked for a room with a nice view, but got room 742 with a 'view' to shabby walls all round. When we complained the nexr day, we were offered another room, but were told that it might be noisy (demonstrations and gatherings). We would call the room mediocre, compared to our idea of an upgrading to 'executive' and the price in mind. The breakfast was wonderful, and so was the dining hall. The service was formal and correct, but not very inviting and welcoming. There was no question about our well-being or satisfaction when we checked out. The concierge and the elderly doorman were friendly and helpful.
